Good Samaritans, often in the midst of demolishing or remodeling, drop off extra tile, old bathtubs, leftover paint, and the like for others to purchase at reduced prices. Not only does such consideration prevent perfectly useful stuff from entering the landfill, but it also benefits a worthwhile cause.

WAREHOUSE DISTRICT. A cultural experience awaits at this direct importer and wholesaler of exotic furniture, sculpture, and home accessories from around the world. England, France, Japan, and Bali are among the countries represented, and even if you don't make a purchase, the shop warrants a visit for its cavalcade of rare and thought-provoking pieces.

SOUTH CONGRESS AVENUE. Located among the funky shops of South Congress, you'll find what many consider to be the most wonderful shop in Austin. Folks spend hours here browsing the theme rooms while listening to soothing Latin tunes. Owners Jim and Kelly Luedeke have traveled the world and brought back treasures including 19th and 20th century religious icons, antique paintings, American, Mexican Colonial, French and Indian antique furniture, pottery, and so much more; all beautifully displayed.
